I've just replaced the regulator fuel pipe on my 02 td5, and it appears to need bleeding up.
Ive gotten it running before using deodorant after running out of diesel before as I don't like easy start and it's addictive properties, but I've gone through 2 cans and it will only run on the deodorant and not it's own fuel. I can hear it priming on ignition but it just doesn't want to fire on its own.
The most confusing part is Ive had the regulator housing itself off twice now and never had any problems starting afterwards.

Is the pipe not part of the FPR ??
Are you sure your not drawing air somewhere on your connections you made.

So I've tried the 5 pedal method, is it normal for the pump to prime, then shut off and start again? I stuck my head under the bonnet while it was doing it and you could hear it pressuring from the regulator housing and at the same time the new pipe tensed up as if under pressure. Trouble is the battery died as I tried cranking it over so I can't see if it worked until tomorrow now. And the EML flashed for around 2 minutes

That's normal behaviour and this method should be applied every time air gets into the system... maybe after you charge the battery it will start now, crank it few turns without touching the throttle and if it doesnt start then depress the pedal but dont keep it more than 5 seconds if it doesnt give any signs of starting cos you might flood the engine

If it's manual try to bump start it but i have no other ideea which doesnt include a multimeter cos the battery voltage while cranking is important too.

There was another thing I'd seen where it was leave on ign 2 for 3 minutes and then full throttle while cranking for 30 secs, rinse and repeat as required.
The couple of posts I'd seen used a combination of both methods, and were mainly successful. So I'll give it another go tomorrow I think

Ign on 2 for 3 minutes has the quite the same effect like the 5 throttle method as it's to bleed the system which you already did... as about keeping the throttle down 30 seconds just be carefull to not exceed that cos it can lead to engine flooding

just be aware that if your battery is not in the best shape and the voltage drops below 10V while cranking the engine will crank well but it will not fire cos the ECU doesnt open the injectors

easy start isnt addictive,if its needed to start an engine unless you fix the reason why its unlikely to repair itself
