TD5 f/o/s wheel knock

Hi, I have a 2001 td5 es manual, occassionaly I get a knock that comes from the front off side wheel. It sounds just like I've driven over a rock (but obviously have'nt cause I check the rear view mirror hoping I have) Getting a bit worried now, it doesnt do it often but enough to get me wondering. Has anyone else experienced anything like this.

Well I dont think its anything that I would automatically notice cause its recently had an mot and was doingit before that

Mine does that too, and has done from new. I thought it was something to do with ABS sensor or something. Usually happens on decelleration at lower speeds? More like a little click? Sometimes I get the same noise/feeling when it starts up, and you can feel it through the brake pedal... Sounds like the same thing?

do you get the noise on full lock try just rocking the steering while on full lock as some td5 did not have the chassis leg/steering box gusset welded on both sides causing a knocking/cracking metal sound.

The noise I hear is not a clicking noise, its definitaley like a knock that occurs when driving in a straight line. I wonder if it could be anything to do with the front hub, I dont really know how the constant 4x4 thing works. As I say, it passed an MOT without any observations made and the only way I can really describe it is like going over something laying in the road like a bit of rubble or something.

Mine has always done this, an O/S knock whilst driving along in a straight line - just occassionally, my friends TD5 also did this and was taken back to the LR dealer to investigate but no fault found. I have put it down to either the ACE or ABS system

Mine also does this, but it's a 300 sounds like a very slight knock.
Can only hear it if the window is down.
Mine also past MOT, and i have done alot of looking around underneath and replacing other parts due to another problem and didn't come across anything. I'll have a listen over the next few day's to see if it's still doing it, not had the window down much due to all this bloody rain!
Wondering after reading this thread whether it's a Disco charateristic!!

The only other way I can describe this is that you can feel the knock through the throttle pedal and steering wheel, and although its not a hard or violent knock, you can still hear it. I wondered if it was something to do with the 4wd element of the front hub, but not knowing too much about these things I dont really know. Maybe it is a disco thing
