This isn't an advert - just a word of thanks and a recommendation for anyone in the East Mids who's thinking about having a tune.

I eventually given in and had my 2005 TD5 remapped, it ran 'fine' as standard but after hearing what 'could' be done, I decided to take the plunge.

A local garage who'd done a recent service recommended Gee Diesel Services in Hucknall, Nottingham. I spoke to Daryl who said he'd done numerous Defenders and TD5's before, every map was done from 'custom' not just uploaded from a file, then test driven to see if there were any flat spots or room for improvement, it worked a treat, no flat spots, lots more low down torque, pulls better throughout the rev range and is now much nicer to drive. I've not done enough miles to have accurate fuel economy figures but I'd be surprised if it wasn't an improvement. I'd heard of JE Tuning and Alive etc but they are all miles away. Well worth the outlay.

what did it cost you ?

Hi Shotgun!
I know its been ages since you posted the thread above... after having the remap done and driving your fender for nearly a year now, would you recommend the remap?? they say the mpg is better aswel, was it so in your case?
Thanks
Loz

Hi Loz, yep, my mileage improved by about 3 mpg on average, feels much smoother and a better drive, I've just bought another td5 and it won't be long before I get that one done too. Go for it!

Sounds good! When I get my td5 she'll be getting done... Until then loving my 300tdi! Did you consider bigger intercooler and cat removal etc??

I removed the cat and EGR valve, any more than that seemed to get very expensive for little gain, I don't tend to keep something more than a year or so either so decided agains a stage 2. Hope it goes ok anyway mate
