'Happy New Year' everyone...:5bcheers2:
just a quick one to see if anyone's had the same issues as im having at the mo'...:confused2:
my Td5 starts and tickes over very low for about 5 seconds then bursts into life and ticks over normally...
she's really struggling to start in this sub zero winter and will take 3 heats to get her going then she'll cut out and i'll have to do the same again,3 or 4 times before she actually starts and sits at 300rpm for 5 or 6 seconds before firing into life...:frusty:
she's been doing it since i bought her, over a year ago,but it wasn't an issue in the normal weather but now that its really cold, its so much more noticeable and not the way it should be...
i've just fitted a new set of heater plugs but thats not sorted the problem...:censored:
she's a 53 plate Td5ES auto with 100k on the clock...
cheers for looking and i hope a fellow LR owner will point me in the rite direction to getting my baby back to the way she should be...:5bparty:
'Awe Ra Best'...Del. ;)

If you don't have fuel in the head that is ready to go when you start, it will take a while (seconds) to pump it up from the tank.

Three things to look at, one is the fuel pump itself, then the pressure regulator, which is sat on the cylinder head, lastly the fuel filter and agglomerator. Pumps wear out, the regulator dies and the filter clogs up and/or has water in there (which freezes in this weather)

thanks for your help on that one...
i think i can virtually rule 2 out of 3 rite away as its a new engine, supplied by LR only 5k miles ago which should have a new regulator fitted, and she's recently been serviced about 1500 miles ago...
would the pump cause this, even though it comes upto pressure and cuts off on the ignition?...
cheers again,much appreciated...Del.
