Hi guys was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a new plug for my alternator. when i purchased my landrover about 6months ago it had a new alternator fitted to it, it has been fine up untill about a month ago when the battery warning light kept flashing on and off. The first place i checked was all the connection's on the alternator and there was the problem, when the alternator was fitted they must have damaged the plug and then bodged it back in but now it keeps falling out. i have phoned my local landrover dealer and asked them if they sell the plugs and they said no you have to have a complete engine wiring loom at about £200 so then i phoned an alternator specialist and they said they cant get them either does any one know where i might be able to get 1 before i spend stupid money on a new harness? thanks mike

Hi yeh i have already phoned all 3 of my local landy dealers and none of them have them it seems you actually cannot buy the plugs at all as i have phoned alternator specialists and auto technitions and even tried to match 1 up at work from a machine but no good at all so i have had to bodge it for now but it all seems to be ok for the moment thanks anyway.

The plugs must be available from somewhere. Somebody makes them for the loom manufacturers and the alternators are used on other vehicles as well. Its a case of trying to track down where they get them from.

I've got a brand new engine loom sitting in my shed waiting to go into my motor so I'll have a look for a manufacturers label. Before you ask you cant have the old loom because I'm keeping it just in case I have the same problem as you. Sorry mate.

yeh well it seems stupid to me that you have to spend all that money on a new loom just for a plug. and yeh like you say surely there is some 1 out that sells the plugs. i think if i manage to find a place that does them i might buy a few and chuck them on ebay but still got a few more tractors and stuff at work to look at so fingers crossed i might find a match and then i will know for sure that you can get them.

Are you looking for the ACR Alternator 3 pin connector?
Lucas pn 54960402 - cos they are available - from all good cabling companies :D:p

No i dont think lucas make all of the plugs as the alternator is a nippon denso unit and so it the starter etc. The chap at fenlake auto electrics said he can supply all the lucas and bosch connections but good luck trying to get the denso connectors so it seems they are difficult to obtain. i took some pics of the plug so i will upload them later if i can work out how to, then i might stand more of a chance of getting it identified.
