Going to replace the clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel on my 2000 TD5 defender, got a trip to the alps coming up in August and it's right at the top of the pedal and have had it slip a couple of times making a quick pull away from junctions.

Anyway is there anything else i should look at doing when it's out, going to drop the gearbox rather than the engine as there is a bit of weep-age around the transfer box, so hoping it's just a seal needing done..

Diff Gasket Rover Axle (Britpart) 7316
Oil Seal Rear Main OEM LUF100420G
Oil Seal Transfer Box Output Handbrake (Corteco) FTC4939G
Head to Exhaust Manifold Stud TE108051L
SPIGOT BEARING BUSH LFB500050G
DMF bolts ER6781 (cant find anywhere with stock so assume this number might be wrong)
slave cylinder FTC5202G
571161 Fork Insert
576203 Staple
576723 Rod Clip

Anything else? I'm assuming it wont need a new fork?

Also was going to go with a new DMF over the solid one piece one, any counter arguments to this?

Cheers
Stu

none dmf is best , diff is supposed to use rtv silicone though you can use gasket , bolts are err6581 ,forks rarely need replacing on td5 same as v8 one

That's great thanks for the info. Didn't know about the sealant but will order the gaskets since they are only a few pence and already have the sealant so will see what seems the best bet when I get to putting it back together.

I'd go with the gasket and a tiny bit of sealent. Belt and braces I know but I'm not really sure would I trust the gasket alone (especially britpart lol). Nothing worse than having oil leaks and even worse on a 4x4 as all the mud and everything adds to the mess too when combined with leaks.

New release bearing while you are in there shirley......?? Squeal like a pig after a 100k.... Enjoy the job, and +1 on dmf. A

Thanks for the tips, release bearing comes with the kit so will do that too.

Not got any running probs with regulator and haven't noticed any fuel leaks, but there is quite a bit of oil about so will bear it in mind when the gearbox is out to check it.

Crank sensor - why not get a new one anyway? Then the old one can do as a spare to take with you on the long trip.
