Hi, I decided to change the various filters on my 2006 td4 freelander. I noticed that there is a small filter for the turbo? Anyway I have purchased one and was poking about the engine bay and could not find the existing one? Has it been removed or is it hidden somewhere. I took a photo and wondered whether it was supposed to be attached to the part I have arrowed. Any ideas please?

Sorry, was too quick to ask the question.... Took the cover off and found it clipped in at the back. Filthy. Looks like that has not been changed in a long time!

buy the bmw upgraded replacement

is that the crankcase one , done mine and good bit of engineering , only needs a wash out

ref the pipe that's a vent pipe for ur ird

the turbo filter only connects on one end and the arrow goes towards the turbo pipe , think there about £4 quid from a dealer

Just in cause you're curious as to what you arrowed to in the photo (even though you found the turbo filter) - I believe that is the IRD breather pipe.

Great thanks guys. Yeah replaced the crankcase breather with the bmw part last year. Been changing the cabin filter, air filter and now turbo vent filter. Getting the garage to do the oil and filter change as I don't have ramps. I think that's all the serviceable parts / filters?

are they going to do ur gearbox, ird and rear diff oils for u or don't they need doing yet

rear fuel filter ?

Yes getting the rear fuel filter done also along with a reconditioned hp fuel pump - dam thing has been leaking slightly.

What's the schedules for the ird, gear box and rear diff oil changes? The car has 78,000 miles on it and a full Land Rover specialist service history on it. Cheers

if u look i. ur service book it should show u what's been done on the a, b and c services , if not will find it for u

however when I bought mine it also came with a full Land Rover service history but I done the following

engine oil and filter
auto gearbox oil
turbo filter
ird oil
diff oil
air filter , do wash outer sleeve if ok

I actually do all above each and every year , but know it's not necessary and an overkill , but mines on nearly 180,000 miles and do it for just peace of mind

checked all brakes, replaced brake fluid

egr bypass
bmw crankcase conversion

topped up washer bottle , pas ,

rear fuel filter

so that I knew it had been done

bought an a4 hard back lined book and write everything down in it that gets done along with cost and date

so that when I sell it I've got a full list to show the next person

hope that helps abit
