2003 td4 5 door freelander/ egr done and oil sepertor done.

Hi guys,
Need some of your help as the freelander is driving me nuts.

Scenario: driving normally she starts to stutter like a lack of fuel kind of thing, happens regularly but not all the time, happens mainly when you go slightly faster than average or to overtake when changing down a gear or going up hill.

Items checked: both fuel pumps, fuel pipes, dirt in tank, injectors.

Items replaced: engine fuel pump, filters, fuel additive, cleaned injectors.

Mechanic plugged it into the laptop and no errors came back.

He went out with it and saw how bad it is, but is lost to what it can be, he did mention that it could be the turbo or some things that control the turbo not sure the name he mentioned.

So basically guys and frikkin idea before i throw her off a cliff.

Tks
James

Has the turbo solenoid vent filter been changed , sounds like the fuel filter , if its a facelift (in the rear wheel arch) the filter can be put in the wrong way round , can not think of any thing else , good luck

Tks for the reply, am i right in saying that the other end of the filter just dangles and is not connected to anthing else. I replaced it but wasnt sure it was originally attached to anything, changed the air filter as well which was black with dirt, lets see what happens tks again

Tks guys, but to no avail, it does feel better but as soon as i give it abit of power or change down like to over take she stutters and you can feel the lack of power.
I was reading on another thread about the turbo solenoid valve could be the issue so might be worth replacing.

The mechanic me tioned it could be the turbo / actuator.

Tks anyhow

sounds like fuel issue, the turbo issue is just a lack of power and struggles to get over 70, had this last week
check the wiring to the fuel rail pressure sensor, and change the fuel filter

Hi,
Try changing the turbo vacuum operated solenoid. Sounds like it is stuck giving max boost which the engine does not like at high revs so the ecu starts to shut the fuel down. It is underneath the drivers foot roughly, can be changed without removing the under cover! Cured mine after a bit of head scratching and help from this forum.
Cheers,
Freelanderer.
