Hi my freelander commercial td4 has had a new battery and a refurbished starter motor but still refuses to start.

It turns over and sometimes it seems to catch but doesn't.
I sprayed some easy start down the intake and it will fire up and rev up to 2000 but then immediately die.

I've listened for the both fuel pumps humming and both seem to be present.
There is a hissing sound coming from the alternator area.
I've tried starting with MAF plugged in and out. No joy.
I have a Turbo Charger Vacuum Boost Valve in my workshop for ages on the shelf which I'll try tomorrow.
Anyone have any idea's?
regards

Hmm, it sound like its being starved. It seems to be starting on the spray, cos it barely burns a second. Have you had a multimeter on the injectors and harness? That would be my first port of call after fuel pump, AND CHECKING FUEL FILTER AINT BLOCKED ;-)
Hissing sounds like aircon.
Good luck

sounds like a fuel pump issue, just because its making a noise dont mean its pumping fuel, i have just replaced one a few weeks ago,, you need to have fuel pressure at the fuel filter and fuel rail sensor

Ok thanks for the replies, I will investigate further when I next have a day off.

I can rule out the air con as it is a freelander commercial and doesn't have it.

Hi i've had taken readings on the injector harness it's 1.01v and whilst cranking it climbs to around 4v. Is this normal?

Basicly my ex gf's dad borrowed my van to take some stuff to the tip and the bloody thing hasn't started since. He's started moaning now about it being on his drive so I need to get it shifted soon.:censored:

As it's the ex's dad, and it broke when he used it, kind of means he's responsible for sorting it out I reckon ;)

Hi I've plugged in a colleague's hawkeye and there was loads of faults. I cleared them and 2 came back.
P0100 - air flow metre short circuit to grnd or open load

P0110 - air temp sensor signal out of range.

Hi I've fixed my van.
I took the battery home to charge it up then when I returned to my ex's dad's house I plugged in the hawkeye and I got a cam and crank sensor faults. I replaced the parts, cleared the faults and it was a feeling of pure euphoria when she fired up. At first there was so much smoke I thought there'd been a new pope!

I turned the van around on the drive to see if they'd notice. It's been stuck on there since about Aug!
Just need to get it taxed and insured again now so I can bring it home!
Many thanks for all the replies! Its been emotional!!!!!

PS the other two faults mentioned earlier cleared when I put everything back together!
