just arrived in SW France 600 mile trip all good. Drove into house drive and stalled ( it's an automatic!) . Now will not star. Turns over once then hissing sound. ?? No fuel ? Tank filled 50 miles ago. Not cold enough for fuel freezing. Help!

Thanks. Pumps were whirling and there was a hissing under the bonnet which made me think fuel. In fact it was a duff battery. Just wasn't expecting it after just ending a 600mile drive! Worth noting that did turn over once; lights did not dim but repair linked up booster and all started up. Just got new battery and happy car.
Congrats to RAC. I have European cover as we drive to France 10 times a year. Phoned at 9:58. Breakdown truck arrived at 10:40; at garage at 11:15; fixed at 11:30! I'm in rural France 12190!

It's not unheard of for a battery to die on a long journey. The battery temperature can rise due to under bonnet heat, causing the battery to boil. I've seen this several times in the past. Glad you are sorted.
