Hi
I have an oil leak on my TD4 (2005, 60,000miles)
Its on the drivers side dripping from the under tray.
I had a look under the bonnet and found the oil filter cap was a little loose, so i tightend this but i still seem to have a small leak, seems to be comming from the oil cooler or dip stick tube (oil around base of dip stick tube)? Crank case pressure is ok (BMW cyclone seperator fitted)
Any one else had this?
Cheers

My rocker cover gasket was leaking on mine, drivers side aswel. I just nipped up the rear bolts, three were loose. Seems to have stoped it, every now and then a few small drips appear on the drive. Engine oil level fine, dif oil fine, gearbox oil fine.

Hi, are you sure it's oil and not diesel?
The high pressure fuel pump is above the oil filter and it's known for them to leak from the top piston cover (just above where the 2 pipes go into it).
They will normally leak 1st thing on a cold morning and then be fine as soon as the pump gets warm after about a minute.
To test it, wipe it clean with a rag and then 1st thing in the morning pop the bonnet and then start the engine. Run round to the front and shine a torch onto the pump if it's leaking you'll see it ****ing out and running down the pump.

Hi,
If it's a td4 then there should be unless the earlier engine was different.
Mines a 2005 td4 and it's there.
If you look at the top of the oil filter cap then look down to the left it should be there. It's a black bosch cp1 pump. If you look up from the bosch label you will see 2 pipes coming from it attatched to the stainless steel fuel lines feeding to the right, then up from this you will see the top piston cap which has 4 torques bolts holding it in place although 2 of these are covered by the left engine mount.
If the seal is on its way fuel comes out from under this cap when it's first started in the morning and is then normally fine until the next morning.
Does your car have the auxillary fuel pump and fuel filter under the drivers side rear wheel arch?
