Hi all have had starting problems with my TD4 diagnosed as mainly fuel pump issues. Both pumps have been replaced and things are a hellava lot better!!! However, I seem to have a strange electrical gremlin.....when stone cold and the glow plug light comes on....I get a loud buzzing from the relay box above fuel pump. I have lifted the lid and listened carefully....it appears to be the main relay R1 buzzing. If you sit in the cab and whatch the glow plug light in kinda flashes on and off ... like the relay is cutting power.
Starting from stone cold is still slightly laboured....takes to or 3 cracks. Once started truck is fine all day.
I suspect the glow plugs are failing to heat...and the cranking is compensating for this by heating the chambers.
I am hoping other TD4 owners have had similar issues.... is there a sneaky earth I should be looking for....that may need cleaning, do relays break down with time......these are 10yrs old.....your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated
