How much can you cut the injector seats?

I found an extra washer in mine jammed and had to resort to using a sharp screw driver to split it to get it out - it worked but I stupidly used a bit too much force and cut into the seat (I know I am a dork!)

Upshot is it is now leaking - blowback. I have refitted it tonight and it seems better but it may not last like that?

Seat cutter on order but how much can I take off!

Alternative will be fill with JB Weld and then cut - it can stand head temperature I believe.

Cheers

Sorry can't answer your question but where is the crap going to go when you cut the seats or is it possible to block the nozzle hole in the head and vac out the swarf etc. I would have thought that thinly coating the underside of the new washer with the material you mention above and allow to set in position could be a better alternative, if you need to remove it in future just use the seat cutter presumably with the head off.

Good reply. The cutter is a hand took and has a part that fits into the hole. The material cut is fine alloy and with a bit of grease on the cutting head should a come up with it. Then a vacuum with a fine nozzle will do the rest if any.

I had considered bonding a sealing washer and may end up doing just that - I think the plan now is a light cut just to see the extent followed by a smear of JB Weld and a further cut of that back to the alloy do that the two indentations fill and are flat. As its injector number one it's easy to remove so I will try that first with a non bonded new washer - of it fails then I will bond it.

Cheers

try the JB weld it is fantastic but I never tried it on a valve seat because if you leave a tiny bit of a bump it will stay there just do a couple of turns on the seat cutter I would it will take of about 20 thou and should be fine that would be my option hope this helps and another subject how do you put your picture on your profile I can not seem to do it mind you it is not easy to confuse me these days

Thanks for that - it's what I think I will do once the cutter arrives.

Regards the photo - you have to go into the site via your PC and you will see your account type things - I think it's call CP not sure not at my pc and Tapatalk access via iPhone doesn't have the facility.
