Our Td4 performed terribly yesterday, towing the caravan. When checking for loose hoses etc, I found a connecter at the end of the fuel rail, not connected to anything. There is a green connecter plugged into the pressure sensor, but there is also a black one not plugged into anything. The shape of the wires suggest the black should be on the pressure sensor. But I can't see another place for the black one.

Has this been connected correctly, or is there another connecter I'm missing? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Normally the black plug is the correct one. Due to issues with the plug a modified wiring harness kit can be fitted and I wonder it this is what you are looking at. If it has been running ok with no managment light on and the fault has only just started then I is unlikly to be problem.
A few more details on the exact issues you are having may give us a better idea into whats going on.

The Green one is the overlay, as part of LTB00052 or whatever it is.

The Black one is the original one.

If you open your e-box you'll notice a hole drilled into it, with the wires from the green plug going into it. It should go into your engine ECU.

You should also have a modified High Pressure Fuel Rail sensor on as part of the overlay, although alot of people try the overlay first as its like a helluva lot cheaper than the sensor itself.

The bulletin LTB00052 refers to erratic idle and hesitation when pulling away.

Hope that helps some.

Thank's for that guys.

We have had the mil light on intermitently recently, which was diagnosed as a boost fault. But with no info as to the faulty component. Usualy it drives fine, until the light comes on, & power is reduced. Feeling like a na engine. Then when the revs drop, the lihht goes off and normal service is resumed. Often for days before the mil light puts in another appearance. But yesterday is seemed to be on more often, & the engine didn't seem to pull as well as usual, even when I could hear the turbo spooling.

The mil light only comes on above about 2200 rpm, when the engine has been at working temp for over 10 minutes. Then doesn't usualy come on again during that journey, at least until yesterday's 100 mile caravan journey!

I wondered about an egr fault?

while it could be a few things from turbo boost solonoid or sticking vanes on turbo. We had one with all the symptoms you have it turned out to be a blocked cat, all we did was drop off the exhaust knocked the guts out of the cat and replaced, it cured the fault and its been throught 2 tests since with no issues, so even if ther cats not to blame its a cheap fix and will make it run better anyway.
