The coolant has started going down on SWMBOs TD4. Fortunately I realised before she cooked it.
It appears to be coming from the thermostat housing area
in fact the gasket going to the bit that takes a pipe going back to the expansion bottle looks quite wet.
I am quite tempted to just replace the whole lot as access doesn't look great and I'm hoping that the parts might be quite cheap.
Is this a common failure?
Also, I notices that they is no sensor or warning light for low coolant. Is there a way of adding one? I did that on a friends Rover 45 by fitting an expansion bottle from a later model that had a sensor and I think that it was a well worthwhile mod.
