As mentioned in another thread, I purchased an 08 LR3 with the 4.4 V8 and had to replace the black plastic assembly that attaches to the block. I also installed a new coolant level sensor as I had been getting Low Coolant warnings for no reason. Well I am still getting low coolant warnings but coolant is above the line on the tank. I took the old sensor apart and there is a reed switch in there so there must be a floating magnet in the tank. Could the tank itself be bad?
Anything else to check besides the connecting plug? Thanks for any suggestions.

It's never the sensor it's the float, you need to fit a whole new expansion bottle which comes with sensor and internal float.
Common issue the float gets porous with age and just sinks to the bottom you cannot replace the float.
Cheap as chips on the bay.

The thought occurred to me that if I am goin to junk the old one I can drill a hole in the top and use my hand pump to suck out the fluid. Good tip about removing the headlight. I need to replace one of my front parking aid sensors and this requires headlights out, amongst other things, so maybe I will do both at the same time.

I would not be drilling the plastic tank, you never know where the little shards might end up.
