Following mayor Ken Livingstone's latest brainchild, it seems anyone with a car that produces more than the magic figure of 225g/km of CO2 will have to pay £25 a day congestion charge to enter london.

Unfortunately, as my Td4 is the commercial (van) version, it doesn't have a figure on the logbook for CO2 emissions.

Could some kind owner of a Td4 ordinary version (i.e. seats in the back) please look on their logbook and let me know the figure.

I have a nasty feeling it might be a case of "no figure shown so we'll assume the worst case"

Manuals are below, autos above. However I suspect it will be based on taxation class, Band H, so those of us with earlier vehicles will get away with it.

Hi,

On the logbook for my 04 plate TD4 the Co2 is down as 205 so you are well under.

Hope this helps.:)

Looked this morning after reading paper, my auto is 240. Sons V6 is about 280. Anyway who wants to go to London, I was born there but did the sensible thing and got out before the invasion.

Look at the small print, I think it applies only to late registered vehicles.

I was a bit premature with my earlier post.
I looked on the Transport for London website at lunchtime, not good reading. The CO2 figure breakpoint applies to vehicles built since 2001 (presumable when emissions tax bands came out, so figures appeared on V5s).
Before those of you with older vehicles stat laughing to much, those earleir than 2001 the higher rate will apply to all vehicles over 3000cc!
Older Range Rover owners beware!
Different figures for light commercials which don't have the CO2 figures on their V5, but it seems to be based on the 3000cc
Time to get an early Discoveriy before the prices start shooting up, as of course diesel Defenders are to be hit in a couple of years time by the emissions ban.

nuts, mine is the td4 auto, think i need to look into this a bit more.

Thanks for the info guys

Having been caught out with the Freelander one, strange that the Freelander 2 auto kicks out 224gms per whatever. Presumably the reason why the Autos appeared several months after the manual is some bloke was tinkering with a screwdriver in a shed at Halewood trying to get the emissions below the magic Band H 225

I don't think my auto will be going anywhere near London then (which is apparently what Ken wants). How long before Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle etc???

jist er nuffer way er makin dosh. . . .anti 4x4 brigade must be avin er field day wiff this latest crap. . . .

Reading the above I am afraid that my 2001 Td4 auto is thus spitting out the 240 figure ?? Thus bad f....ng luck for London but not going near that place, not going to support their economy if I have to pay to enter that city by car. (Not that I had intention to do it at all....:D :D :D )

the rub is, as a mobile engineer, they inhabitants of londons offices and galleries and so on all need us to travel in. Just ain't practical to do it by public transport. See how they all squeal when the attendance invoice goes up by £17 a visit
