new to this site hello to all you freelander owners.
please help! when cold grey smoke. when she warms up the smoke stops, any ideas. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all hoses checked maf sensor looked at, looks like new! egr valve removed cleaned. oil level checked run out of ideas! checked all above after reading all 250 pages of theads from all you other landy owners. great advice but its still smoking!!!!!!!!

check the crankcase ventilation valve assembly(depression limiting valve assembly) sat near the injectors close to the bolted end of the inlet manifold

Takes about 40 mins to remove & refit, cost about £30 to replace and have a history of causing smoking

Im going to replace mine this week but for another reason

Do a search and somebody did a thread with a picture

Also a dose of injector clean as they may be dribbling ?

hey kellyt chill a bit, he said he had done a search and found nothing. the next step is to have a bit laugh while waiting for someone to have a answer. if you dont like the way this forum works, leave.

thanks for the answers and the laugh. hopefully sorted, got bored this morning and removed all the pipes (3) and cleaned out also removed the egr valve and degreased (jet wash) also removed the maf sensor plug and started engine/turned off then replug sensor to reset (have been told this works??) gave it a good run this afternoon left it to cool down for a couple of hours . Then drive round the block NO SMOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also found that if the oil is topped up keep it near to the minimum line as this also causes smoke, dont you just love this bmw engines!
