Aw do all, my temp on my td (after a short period of heavy acceleration) increases up the temp gauge around the 1 oclock area whereas previously wouldn't move past the 11oclock position. I seem to be topping the water up quite often. There's no water in the oil nor is there any White smoke or rough running. I think there may be a leak on the radiator but I can't tell. If it is the radiator, would a 200tdi+intercooler fit straight in place of the td one?

yes it will but why would it solve your problem?(you will need the frame aswell)

the td rad is perfectly capable

If it is the radiator that is leaking, instead of fitting another td rad I thought I'd be better off fitting a tdi one, 1 for the intercooler just for a little bit of power gain but mainly when I eventually fit a 200tdi a rad and intercooler is one thing I won't need to get.

you will see absoulutely no power gain atall by putting in the tdi rad and intercooler.

the td isnt a power hungry enjin at the best of times..

my advice try and find your problem within the system you currently have

To be honest I diddnt think it would make much of a difference if any but it was a case of kill two stones with one bird. I can't see any obvious leaks, is there anything common that tends to fail? (cooling wise)

think you'll find mate it is'nt a straight swap the oil cooler pipes/fitting are differant if i remember when i swapped my td for a 200tdi
but dont quote me it was longer ago than my last meal :D

but going back to the opriginal question better off taking your rad to a rad re-furb company they will re-core it (had to have mine done when i bought it ) they will if asked nicely put bigger cores in spo will aid much better cooling ;)

have you checked the water pump and thermostat?

I have changed my stat around Christmas 09/10 but there's nothing to say it's not goosed, I've got a spare in the cubbard somwhere...
How do I check the w/p?

Buckshot, I feared that aswell, bit like the 4 bolt steering box pipes are different to the 6 bolt (or so I've been told) Land rover must of thought it would be a good idea to change all fittings that require replacing shi* loads of pipes at great expence.

If it is the rad, how much would a re-core set me back?

was a long time ago i had mine done bud (about 12-13 years now) but will be a darn site cheaper than a new 1 ;)
expect if you look in the yellow pages or on line you'll find a local to you company

I will check the stat as WLM suggested along with the water pump (how I don't know!) then if there's nothing I can find then a recon of the rad might be in order. How do I go about checking the pump?
