Hi

Time to get the old girl sorted for the summer months and firstly i have to address couple of problems that have kept her off the road. Going to replace the fuel filter, used the search facility here. As a result i removed the rear wheel and liner and did not see anything that looked like a fuel filter. Had a look under the bonnet and think i forund it.

Your search should have revealed that early TD4s had under bonnet fuel filter and later ones have it under the rear wheel arch. As James says ^^^^ for removal but be careful when disconnecting the pipes, they can break if you're hamfisted with them.

It's a double canister and on mine (my2001) it's the front one being the fuel filter, the thick canister. As jamesmartin says the whole is kept solid with a screw, with a bit of luck you can see the location of it on the attached picture.
