300 TD Engine - Fuel Injection Leak - Help.

Just went to start my lannie, it started after about ten seconds of turning over (which has become common since about 12 months ago). Checked underneath it... spot of liquid and drip drip drip.

I was hoping it was maybe the lift-pump (I've got a spare) or the fuel filter being loose.
Popped the bonnet... It's out of the fuel injection block itself coming out in two places at the top where the butterfly thing it and at the bottom. So my thoughts are its an o-ring inside that's perished?

So I guess I need to whizz it to the garage who can hopefully tinker with it? Or is injection work a PITA and needing a specialist? Or replacement?!

FiP's aren't for the faint hearted.
There are a number of specialists that will rebuild it for you, at a cost, Diesel Bob is one i've used.

Maybe it's worth buying a spare inj system block while that gets fixed?

Any ideas who is worth trusting on that?

Use some brake cleaner to clean off the split fuel, then run the engine and confirm where the leak is coming from, then take a pic and show us where it is leaking from.
If is is the main body o ring leaking, it is a 10 quid part, if the pump needs rebuilidng it is a 600 quid job.

I can get a new one for a bit less than that too.

Blimey they want the old inj. pump as WELL as the cash for buying the remanufactured one!
They don't want much do they?

They are not easy, you need specialist tools and a lot of experience to get it right.
It makes a big difference and will last you 100,000 miles (or more)

Good job it's not a JCB/Delphi or a common rail, they are typically in excess of £2000 ...

That is normal it is called service exchange.
I.e. they take your old one and refurbish it to replace the refurbished one that you have brought.

This is normal. Just send your FiP to Diesel Bob and be done with it. He/the team do a superb job and your pump will be returned better than new. The great thing about Bob is that he also has a great sense of humour...
