Hi all,

Recently purchased a D2, tailgate wouldn't open so reading through posts decided to replace the actuator.

Got the part, removed the old part, plugged in the new part first to check it was all OK and ran through a lock unlock cycle with the fob.

All was good fitted the part checked again with door open... stil good.

Shut the door locked the car walked away. came back to find a tail gate which will not open for love nor money. Be it from the inside outside or the leavers behind the trim panel.

Sounds very much like the same thing that happened to MartinK I would link to it if I knew how to.

Please help!!!

could it be a loose connection in the hinge end of tailgate? or it could be the actuators not pulling enough, mine used to lock it but not unlock, try wd-40 on all of the mechanism to free it up if actuators not working at 100% . And i would wd40 up the actuator. I got a spare working one from a D1 which is yours if your close

It's looking like the actuators not pulling enough or jammed, its a "new" used part off fleebay. It did everything it needed to do whilst plugged in but loose out of the tailgate.

Now its secured in the tailgate its not working. I have manually lifted the internal lock at the top of the door, pulled the cable and released the lock conected to the internal door handle and pushed down on the arm which is connected to the outside lever. All to no avail.

I know its early days but...

Looks like i'm gonna end up paying through the nose for this one.

The door is sealed shut round the latch on the lock end. Surely grinding the hinges horizontally on the other side wont help as the door will still be stuck on the lock side.

how else can you get in?

remove the LR badge and give it a good amount of wd40 in there...let it stay a couple of minutes, lock/unlock few times then syncronise your moves and try to open by hand while you unlock with the fob

Thank you Sierrafery, I’m at work at the moment but I have coated the area in WD40, I will try the lock/unlocking as soon as I get out.

Right Guys,

I know its been a while since the last post, but I wanted to let you know I got it sorted.

Just to recap the tailgate was stuck shut and it was nto the usual problem of the motor going and the levers behind the trim would not move to manualy unlock the door from the inside.

So pealing off the door seal at the height of the lock reveals the Child lock from the inside of the vehicle.

I flciked the the child lock over to lock and weirdly this allowed me to open the door using the internal door handle .

Either way tailgate open I pulled the motor replaced and all working well since.
