Nanocom can be carried around in the glove box and will cost a fraction of the cost of T4. T4 lap top based £5845.00. Nanocom £400.00 or so take your pick.

I always thought the T4 Testbook was a laptop on a mobile station with leads and interfaces dangling all over it!!

The handheld unit I though plugged into the laptop as a remote control not as adiagnostic device in its own right

Has come on a bit since it had to be rolled round on a dedicated trolley i would think, with dozens of different (very expensive) leads to get for different cars and functions. Can't find an hand held version. T4 Land Rover Diagnostics | Workshop Direct

Yeah you have to log in to get the codes, then put them in. Log in details will have come with the Nanocom. Reading the paperwork is a must i think. :D:D:D

I have the T4 and it has cost a lot over the years to get all the extra bits including the subscription to get all the upgrade software and access to RR for all updates and bulletins. I have demounted mine from the trolly so its fairly easy to carry about in the car. You don't need to take all the boxes and box of software if you know what car you will be using it on.

But the cost is high and availability is an unknown unless you find a business that is packing up. Unless you want to start a business it probably won't be suitable for you.

I have bet in Ebay Usa for 260 dollar sending cost and insurance is about 65 dollar ,only thing now if i pay they will send it to me import tax around 65 euro , it is worth to buy at around 300 euro , but is a seldom use item in good condition ,, ( second hand item ) :D:D:D of with this money I better buy a nonocom for my diesel engine

hello stopover ,, it is only the handhelp do I need to update it everytimes , or just use it carry around as a nonocom of hawwkeye . it for my own use ,,:D:D:D

Electronics can't re time the injection pump it is not possible. That is a mechanical function. Get a bloody Nanocom and stop buggering about it's the best out there for the money and will do almost everything T4 can.

Testbook cant retime the injection pump,I think what he is referring to is its ability to raise or lower the idle speed slightly. This is to help lessen the trim vibrating so much when that horrible lump is waiting at the lights....
Its not really fair to compare Testbook with any of the others as it was designed primarily for dealers to setup and diagnose LR,Rover and MG products to factory spec.Which it is actually very good at,and is very reliable.Mine has worked daily since I bought it in 2003 - nearly £10,700 with the Vat...It has always been portable, does not need to be on its trolley. The trolly is usful in a busy workshop as it holds the printer and all the extra kit that Tesbook comes with. The full kit has lots of extras including a pressure/vac transducer, car length multimeter probes etc.
Functionality is quite good, having a basic scope function, graphing multimeter built in.With the right cd's you can programme any new and many used ecu's.More than most people would want, and more money too.
The main advantage beside price for the Nanocom is that it will code Disco 2 fobs from the number inside and switch off ACE etc. They are useful functions in the workshop, but I guess most would only use them once or twice.
