T4 diagnosis of nanocom

Testbook cant retime the injection pump,I think what he is referring to is its ability to raise or lower the idle speed slightly. This is to help lessen the trim vibrating so much when that horrible lump is waiting at the lights....
Its not really fair to compare Testbook with any of the others as it was designed primarily for dealers to setup and diagnose LR,Rover and MG products to factory spec.Which it is actually very good at,and is very reliable.Mine has worked daily since I bought it in 2003 - nearly £10,700 with the Vat...It has always been portable, does not need to be on its trolley. The trolly is usful in a busy workshop as it holds the printer and all the extra kit that Tesbook comes with. The full kit has lots of extras including a pressure/vac transducer, car length multimeter probes etc.
Functionality is quite good, having a basic scope function, graphing multimeter built in.With the right cd's you can programme any new and many used ecu's.More than most people would want, and more money too.
The main advantage beside price for the Nanocom is that it will code Disco 2 fobs from the number inside and switch off ACE etc. They are useful functions in the workshop, but I guess most would only use them once or twice.

Think that is what we are trying to put across to this guy, seems he is dead set on this Omitec kit which is based on T4 as far as i can see but not T4 if you know what i mean. Why he doesn't just get a Nanocom i don't know.:);)

The T4 handheld comes as an addition to the base unit/laptop. It's only as good as the updated software.
It gives no info other than a particular module isn't working etc, but the finer details are hidden.
The nanocom does the job fantasticaly but if you want something that makes the T4 & handheld look antiquated then get an MSV extreme.
I use diagnostics from Blackbox that was put together in the late 90's, & even though this software is old in software terms, it still leaves the T4 & handheld in the museum.
I have some of the latest diagnostics for later models but from my personal experiance nothing touches blackbox diagnostics.
So take heed. Don't waste your money.

Hi John,

90% of the time I use blackbox, rovacom & faultmate system, & IDS. I use a friends Autologic if I need to download as he's subscription is fully up to date, & the same with another friends T4 or omintec, whatever the latest version is, & that also has a handheld.
I use the IDS for the Jags & Fords & on the later 2010 range rovers. I bought that straight from the dealers when they closed, fully updated. It was offered so cheap that I had to buy it.
I do need to update soon so I'm waiting patiently for Colin from Blackbox to come up with the 2014 range including the Evoque. I will keep the other stuff as spare then.
Saying that, the T4 works as it should & does the job, but I still get the phone calls from other workshops asking to stop by when things get tricky & either the rovacom or faultmate will nail it.

There's no diagnostics that can give you a radio code. That's a dealer supplied code only, or one of the radio chaps might be able to pull it from the radio itself, but usually the code is written on the back of the radio if it's not on your handbook card.

Not much of an anti theft deterrant if the code is written on the radio, nick the radio, got the code:rolleyes:

Keith, I'm not joking. That's where it's usually hidden, or a sticker is stuck somewhere around this inside of the radio hole.
We've laughed about this for years. It depends if the guys at the factory pull the sticker before fitting.
