readin so many horror stories, people that wont take v8's near grass because theres to much water on it!

my 110 200tdi is happy running completely submerged, hows does a disco v8 compare to that? are we talking not up to the top of the wheels? over the bonnet? submarine games???

Thainy - yu have to remember that a doozil only needs fool and air to run. A petrol needs a spark, and electrics and water dont mix too well. If yo can keep all the ignition electrics dry, yu are ok - but the RV8 3.5 has the distributor at the front of the engine, just by the fan, which is designed to do a very good job of spraying water everywhere in the engine bay.

when i do get one sorted out id love to come back up to basingstoke and do a few of the same lanes we done again if your game? see how the disco compares
 
Quite a few peeps do run a V8 for laning and off roading, but it does take a lot more effort and trouble to keep it reliable.

Any time you fancy a run, just give me a call, or PM :D. My (standard) Disco does the local ones with no probs. Do tend to clout the "plough" at the back tho, on a regular basis - either remove the towing frame, or if you dont need it for towing much, then "modify" it such the the tow hitch is reduced significantly.
 
Yeah I'm going to go for 2/300 tdi. Atleast I know them a bit aswell. How does a stock disco differ from a stock defender then? Same axles isn't it? So less clearance on the actu al body? Ie cills n what not??
 
So advice is buy a doozil, loose the front bumper and cut off the tow hitch and all will be well as far as 'normal' to 'difficult' lanes go yeah? Going to leave this one as standard as I can really apart from a/t boots
 
i would take my 4.2v8 rr thru most water sections..

untill i get the megasquirt i tend not to go over the bonnet deep

what you cant do in a v8 is go full throttle into water and splash it everywhere,it may look impressive to some but aint no good.its all about slowly and get the bow wave
