SWAMBO's 88"

Well, as mentioned in my other threads swambo spotted an old 88 tother day when we went to a friends 40th. It was his old motor that had been abandoned at his Scout hut after some serious tin worm around the fuel tank outrigger

Anyway, Stutab helped me to collect it today. The engine actually runs quite sweetly but it will require a new chassis.

In situ first spotted:



As we decided late last night rather late to go and get it in the morning it was too late to organise a trailer, so I just popped an on Tow sign in the back and Stu "Drove" it behind me.

We did get a look from a passing policeman but I think he realised it was no problem for a 110 with a proper 1" rope, who continued on his way.



Until the house is rebuilt the garage height is a problem, the 80" only just fits in with the 205s so in order to get it into the garage we had to go topless.





As you can see its a bit Heath Robinson at the moment

body panels look to be really good

Defender seats well comfy!! A cheap trim kit and they'll be grand!!

Yes, seats are quite comfy, it's to be A's RTV motor.

Body is very good despite apparently being ex military. Door tops were of course rotten

Chassis 😄

Hehe will have an 88 inch chassis from Spydermans but it's been fixed a few times already!!

One careful owner, dunno about the rest

Lol it's knackared wouldn't be worh all that effort and for the £1500 a new chassis is the way forward!

Lol jai, just read the edit properly

Obviously the house comes first, so N work will progress on the 88 until the house is done, probably a year at least. But the 88 can now hide safely at the bottom of the garden until the house/workshop is built, stu's classic and CCV motors are built

Maybe jai will be ready to RTV with the big boys then 😂

Be a brilliant parts list to put. Bulkhead is probably salvageable as is the rear door. The rest, well time will tell.
