Hi all,

Im hopefully buying a 2003 D2 (auto diesel) 90,000 m soon.

I have a little bit of money to spend on repairs/servicing when I get it and am trying to budget it out.

I am planning on swapping out the air suspension bags with new ones. Do you know how much that will cost? Not ness. for LR bags unless you all recommend it?

I was going to get cheaper bags and then replace them in 5ish years.

What do you reckon would be the cost to have them replaced (total cost parts labour etc).
Many thanks.

Hi, can't help with the bags as my disco was converted to coils when I bought it so don't know much about them, but would suggest getting your hands dirty and doing them yourself if you can, would save alot on labour costs. Don't think they are too bad to change.
Also save up and get a nanocom or hawkeye

Hi Steve thanks for the advice. I would have thought that to change the bags you’d need to get it up on a ramp. Is that not the case? Apologies for laziness I will look this up myself now.

Also, don’t suppose you could run your eye over this other thread I made? https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/cost-after-purchase.379234/

how essential is a nanocom?

Don't think you need a ramp, should be able to use a jack, (someone else will be able to confirm that).
First thing I bought after I got my disco was a nanocom, you might need it to reset the height after the bag change (not 100% sure on this)
I will have a look now on your other post

Hi, here's a tutorial to have an ideea: http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Rear Air Springs.html i changed them myself one at a time without being a mechanic just that i didnt use any axle stands only one jack, chocked the front wheels with bricks and i stabbed the old leaky bags instead of releasing the air at the valves, half an hour job.... i can recommend these https://aerosus.co.uk/land-rover/di...iscovery-2-rear-air-supension-spring-bag.html be aware that they used to have the voss connector like the genuines not push fit like Dunlop so you might not have to cut the air pipes. Disconnect the battery first then you dont need calibration but a nanocom is a good investmenet anyway. The costs after buying and old D2 are proportional with your luck and the way you'll take care of it. Good luck
