Evening all,

2005 RR Vogue 3.0 TD6

I just bought this RR with a "slight leak" in the nearside front air suspension bag. The car beeped a bit but it did level itself out when driving and I figured I'd probably have to get the bag replaced at some point. The message was "Suspension fault max speed 30mph".

My wife drove the car about 100 miles home. When we got back she mentioned that it had threw up an error like "air suspension will activate when cooled". I've gone out to the car today and it seems to be siting at the lowest setting on all four corners. On starting her up the dash says "vehicle lifting slowly" but it never comes back up to normal height.

I'm guessing the air leak has caused the compressor to overwork and it has burnt itself out, causing all corners to become flat? Am I on the right path here?

The ride is now very rough. The tyres don't touch the bodywork, there is maybe a few centimetres gap. Is it safe to drive?

Anything I can do to resolve this issue or does it need to go into a specialist? Rough idea of cost to repair leaky bag and replace/refurb the compressor?

Finally, can anyone recommend a good LR mechanic near Edinburgh?

Thanks

You are right, if the compressor was feeding a leak, it will be knackered. Air bags should be changed in axle pairs.
The car should not be driven far on the bump stops.

FWD? Sounds a ball ache. Much simpler on the tddi, no cooling:) Pleased to hear you are hard at work:D:D:D

Rwd fuurd ranger  this thing has blocked my garage unfortunately.. While it's in here I can't move the bugger out to do anything else.. So I'm part time back on the ground outside until the ranger has gone

That's tough at this time of year, You need a micro tractor and a small boy, the tractor to pull the bugger out and the boy to steer:)

I agree, I also could do with a bloody winch to pull it back in... That's the hard part... Actually I all ready have the tractor.. It's a green one o_O...

With a micro tractor, you can fit push bars on the front.
It the Ranger has a tow hitch, and your P38 has one, you could make up a double ended tow bar to move things in and out where the have a hitch. Can be done with the tow rings on a car without a hitch,

A good suggestion but the amount of plastics and silly bull bar accessories on most cars I would fancy the risk of any possible damage at my cost and or the garage insurances....
