I've just had a front sunroof shatter so I took it in (under insurance cover)for a replacement. Unfortunately, the fittings on the supplied replacement are different, though the glass is the correct size.

It's a '97 Disco 3 door with front & rear sunroofs. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm currently waiting for some answers fromm Land Rover..

It's the two bolts either side of the glass, they are not matching up on the new glass - mine are not standard fittings. Any help appreciated!

Yeh, thanks for a useless piece of advice Ka0s. Remind me to call on you again... when I need erm... nothing.

Frogfart,

Little wonder you've had so few replies with such an ungrateful attitude.

Pattern parts can sometimes be faulty or not made to the same tolerances, I had a similar problem with a RR rear screen a few years ago. Ask your glass people to try another sunroof, it may line up. Alternatively, ask them to source the part direct from LR, they'll probably refuse but it's worth a try.

Major Clanger. You're a cock of the highest order.

This is what I 'did'.

The glass didn't fit so the fitter didn't fit it (amazing, no?) He got it directly from Land Rover suppliers so wasn't expecting it to be a problem. Land Rover, being the ****s that they are, couldn't help the poor guy with finding the right replacement so I searched the web in earnest. I even tried the Land Rover Forum, but all I got was two replies from an idiot and a cock of the highest order.

Retrospective ungratefulness is NOT a logical comment you arse.

..... now, that IS ungrateful of me. Get a pair of trousers to fit your face.

Dear oh dear, you are an angry little chap aren't you. It amuses me how people may act very differently online because they believe it affords them some sort of anomynity.

Rather than spout off, why not learn to express yourself a little better and then I can probably help you in your quest for the glass.

Sadly, I'm the same in the flesh - you must pop in for tea some day.

As for help - unfortunately no one on here had any, and I guess people are 'tired' of the sunroof questions.

I posted an informative thread elsewhere when I found the solution -before you decided to pipe in with your 'dumb-ass' comment.

Do continue Clanger. I need another playmate.

With regard retrospective ungratefulness you are spouting tosh. I made an assumption which, on this occasion, has proven to be the correct one. Any replies, whether you deem the information useful or not, represent someone trying to assist.

I have my old '98 V8 sitting in a paddock, I bought it back from my insurers after an employee totalled it. I'm slowly selling the useful bits from it and as it has two manual sunrooves it may have been of use to you.

I have no interest in sparring with you. I have no reason to and I doubt you would be a worthy opponent. I also have far more important things to do than trade churlish insults with some random oik in virtual world.

Finally, and you are in no way alone here, I am sick of the decent English word 'dumb' being mis-used. It does not mean stupid, it never has. It means an inability to speak.

If you want the glass or fittings let me know.

Cheerio,

Clanger

OK. I'm off your Xmas card list.

Let's try another tack to finish...

Ka0s started his reply with an "Erm...." His suggestion was antagonistic as it impied that I was stupid (show of hands everyone?) - fair enough he may be correct - but he was trying to be smart, and possibly humurous, but not at all helpful in any way. If you couldn't see this then you are as 'dumb' as I thought!

You then jump on his case and acuse me of being ungrateful for a useless piece of information??

I was right first time. You are a cock of the highest order.

Mondo. Your dimmer than I thought.

I'll play along for a while though...

The glass did not get fitted.

The supplied glass (direct from landrover) had the wrong fittings.
The local land Rover dealers - more arseholes - couldn't help the sunroof repair guy with finding the correct glass.

With a great deal of help from two, no three morons on the Land Rover forum, a lengthy web search and a few phone calls I managed to find the correct glass.

Meanwhile, inbetween sucking on a large dummy and reading replies from a couple of idiots on the forum, I wait to be notified when the correct glass arrives.

Hey you three, if you happen to pass by let me know, I'll have tea & muffins at the ready. I feel I've really bonded with you guys.
