Evening all,

so after having a accident after only owning “TIDY” for a month, I’m stripping the old girl back and repairing where needed. I noticed today that the front prop went through the side of my sump. Looked everywhere for one today, but drawing a blank!! Does any one have one kicking about their garage that I could buy please.

Regards

Craig

That’s an oppppsss.

I would beat that out a bit and weld/braze a patch till a reasonable price 1 comes up.

oh and check the oil suck pipe carefully when you remove sump.
Not sure where it dips In but may have taken a bash too.

Actually looking closer at the pic......is it insured?
that don’t look as simple as first look. Hope I am wrong.

U also looking at the chassis by the steering arm then , can’t see if that’s a patch , also wondering if the chassis is straight from the battery box back

or the force via the front axle has caused a ripple in the chassis on the other side , can’t make out if that’s a plate that dropped on the front Rh spring hanger

Yeah it’s insured, been sent away and they Cat S it, they paid out and I bought it back off them for £800. It needs a front quarter chassis welded on, hence the strip down. I have got most of the parts needed to replace the damaged ones, but still need to buy front prop, sump, and of course a front quarter chassis. The rest of the chassis is straight as the impact was mainly front drivers side, which bent the front horn as you can see in the photo, it pushed the drivers wheel in, moving the axle, snapping the u bolts on the leaf springs (new parabolic ones all round ready to go on) shock absorber was also bent, then the force of the impact made the front prop shaft hit the sump, puncturing it. As you can see from the photos

from this angle of pic it’s difficult.
There is a slight upward ripple in the other side crossmember bracing and the relaxed panels don’t even come close (not that that’s an issue with LRs) but would think a bit closer than that normally.

if you also look at door gap in top of pic looks big? (But as above)

you edited think that’s rust (Nooooo I hear)

But as the knock seems to have broken the steering and the spring hanger “U” bolt that has taken one hell of a knock and needs a better eye than 1 pic to check for full damage for sure.

That plate you are referring to is part of the front bumper lol I had to grind it off lol

ouch, many thks for more piccies

been there done that with series landies , ur chassis will be nearly 40 x years old and must admit I would be seriously tempted to buy a new complete chassis , as indeed if u cut the front off it’s what the existing condition is of the rest

at least then with a new chassis ur know 100% is true, making life a lot easier to line everything up, along with safety and at least then the insurance company can’t complain if it’s been rebuilt into a new chassis

just my two cents , lol

hope it all goes well and would be awesome if piccies of the rebuild plse
