Found this online, interested in how the door tops are being stored, has anyone seen anything like this before? Are they on hinges or are they bolted to the door? any thoughts?
stumbled on this picture on the internet. Folding door tops?

Lookin at the big lumps of box section up the sides and hinge pins. I’d say they am inged.

I think they are removed as normal and they have hooks to hang them over the lower section.

Don't know how long the glass would last. If it moves back it would break on the door handles.

I saw somewhere 2 things I was tempted to get:
- padded storage bags for the door tops
- ‘summer’ door tops that were a light weight frame and a zip up window so in case of a short shower you could put them up

Storage bags are great. Used these on S1.we fold a large towel over tops & then put in the bag.

nah thats to go on the door like a door card.
the things i saw were a bag to put your door tops in when they were removed, to prevent them getting damaged etc

One bump would mean the glass going. My series door tops fell off like that several times, i wouldnt call it a mod. And how many spare tires does that geezer need?

I have seen that pic before, they are hinged and if you look at the top of the door top there is a hasp on them, presumably to enable them to be locked up and down.

Thinking it would work quite well in my land rover, the glass breaking was a concern for me too. Although they don't break on the doors the correct way up, so it shouldn't matter in theory. I like bag idea but its more of a faff, which is the thing I wanted to mitigate.
