But if WE can't get it right, how the F can we get joe public to get it right? Or the media to get it right?

The next time you see a bit in the media about "illegal offroading" and crap like that then don't start wingeing!

mac wer in 4x4's we will never be in the good books with them  as for illegel offroading -- illegal green laning!! we will never stop it ... they will allways do it and give us a bad name,, as all 4x4s have ...

Hi All, I should be on the Strata Florida on Saturday 12th, planning to go South to North. Currently a solo run with 2 of us in my unmodified (apart from AT's) 90.

Not done it before but will be in the area so want to give it a go. Should I be risking it solo or do you advise against? Also I don't have a snorkel - is this an essential or should I be Ok assuming no massive downpours this week?

I see you are planning to go on Sunday so if i'm still stuck there can you help when your passing :)

Gonna be a busy weekend on Strata then, 6 of us going down over the weekend as well as doing Brechfa Forest.

doing greenlaning alone is generally considered a nono. doing strata when you don't know where it is which bits legal & which is off piste, is stupid Not having a snorkel in March is taking a big risk. I'll be out with some friends next weekend. Hopefully we won't get delayed by a newbie with a flooded engine blocking the lane.because there's no one to recover him. :(

Thats a bit harsh - who said I was a newbie and who said I don't know where it is??

Having studied the U tube footage it looks like the lane isn't too difficult - dependant on prevailing water levels, which I would hopefully be sensible enough to check before diving in! I will also have a truck load of self recovery gear, and have been off roading for 20 years off and on.

I also have the Os Map and GPS pre-prograammed, and happen to be a qualified Mountain Leader.

Hopefully nothing bad will befall you and you don't have to inconvenience yourself rescuing some poor unfortunate - whether it be me or somebody else.

Long live the spirit of Landy comeraderie:cool: (however you spell it!)

You asked if you should risk a solo or not. The correct answer of no was given but as you`ve seen the videos you`ll be fine!

Ya ML won't help ya. there's no mountains near strata?? Not sure what relevence that qualification would have with regards to driving a 4x4 anyway??

My apologies for the assumptions I Thought yu was the noob asking where it was earlier??

its best not to go on your own as you might come unlucky ...as ive done b4 now .. had to get a m8 out to me  where are you from

Someone (treadlightly I think) has been through strata and put way markers showing exactly where the route is, so no excuse now, the only change really is that they have signposted the track above the bomb hole rather than through it.

We are planning on being in Brechfa this Saturday so maybe meet some there.

We`ll be there Sat.

During my research I had seen the info about the waymarkers.

I was refering to the comments about not knowing where it is and getting lost - I can read a map was my point!

Hopefully in the true spirit of adventure I will meet some friendly people out enjoying themselves and we can all proceed along and help each other out and have a good day.

Just hope I don't bump in to Redhand as wouldn't want to ruin his day.

If you do get stuck Redhand and his mates are the ones you DO want to bump into. Be the first to help anyone out.
