Hi All
Whilst driving down to Spain last week the inlet hose on my 2002 TD4 blew out???
On putting my hand over the hole I could feel the air coming out. the car lost power and kicked out black smoke under load.
I fixed the hole using a repair strip for an exhaust and a couple of nylon toggles and ordered a new hose on my return home.
On fitting the new hose I took of the busted hose and started the engine. I then put my hand over the inlet and felt the air blowing out.
This surely was wrong as the hose comes from the front grill and is an inlet hose?
A strange thing happened when I sealed of the inlet with my hand ??? The air flow reversed and started to suck.
I put on the new hose and took the car for a run and it feels much livelier
What is going on???
I have owned Land Rovers for 25 years and rebuillt everything from chassis to engines and this has me beat!
Any Brainiacs out there who could shed some light on this strange occurance
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Regards
Nick
