hi guys not sure why my car is doing it, but as i'm driving normally the suspension height lock light comes on and the car locks into trailer mode. couple of miles later it returns to normal, only to switch to trailer mode again and so on. not sure where to start looking to find the fault so any ideas greatly received. no errors showing up on allcomms. it's a 2003 4.4v8 l322

Have you checked the wiring harness in the rear for signs of damp? Generally when the centre 'Hold' lamp is lit, it can mean the system has gone into a soft fault - but that would be accompanied with a warning on the dash message centre.

If your is indeed going into the 'Freeze' state as if it had a trailer attached, it will still self level the suspension but will prevent dropping from standard to motorway when over 60mph.

If this is the case, check the wiring harness in the boot rear corners and identify the trailer wiring connections and see if they are getting damp causing the ECU to the thin kit has a trailer attached and freezing the 'at speed' height movements.

i did think about that as i do have a tow bar (although the ball is off the car) and the electrics are mounted under the rear bumper (out of sight out of mind) i noticed yesterday on the motorway, i was doing 70 and the lock light was on and it never dropped, about a mile later it had unfrozen and went to motorway height.

well i have been out this morning and checked the wiring inside the right rear of the boot and it all seems dry, so until i get a bit more time i have unplugged the tow bar electrics i think it could be water ingress in the 7pin socket or corroded connections. the good news in unplugging the electrics i have fixed 2 faults! the suspension does not go into trailer mode now, and for months the indicators have been acting up flashing for 10 flashes then a faster flash for the following 5, then cycle again this has also been fixed by unplugging the tow bar electrics
