Not Posted for a while, Owned my TD5 D2 Auto for over 12 months now, done all the usual faults like, Repaired the xyz switch, drivers door switch, the 3 Amigo,s, leaking sun roofs, got a persistent SRS light fault after moving the seats, The central locking has never worked properly since I have owned the car, will unlock on the fob but wont lock, have to lock from inside then lock drivers door on the key, also the alarm has never worked, sometimes when you open the car the interior lights will work, other times no interior lights. thinking of getting a Nanocom to help with diagnostics.
Anyway my wife got me a in car video cam for xmas, installed behind the interior mirror looking for a 12 volt switched supply above the interior light. found two extra connectors that are 12 volts live with the ignition on and supposed to be dead with the key off, when measuring the voltage across the positive and negative of these connectors I found that when in the off position there was 2.8 volts across the terminals. also checked the cigarette lighter socket, Battery voltage when on, 2.8 volts when off. (main battery does not go flat)
Because the camera works on only 5 volts through a cigarette lighter plug I thought it might not power down when switched off, so I fitted a standard 12 volt relay in circuit and supplied the camera through the relay,
now when switched off the circuit supplying the camera is at 0 volts.
Now this is the fun bit, I had to create an earth for the 12 volt relay and since the camera install the central locking has worked perfectly, the alarm works as it should, the car now superlocks and the follow you home headlights work. this has left me baffled or am I missing some bad earths down by the BCU etc.
Still got the SRS light fault but hey the joys of disco ownership. also can I say a big thank you for these forums without which I would be lost

A feed from somewhere has now been replaced ... could be a previous owner disturbed some wires while fitting a new radio or doing another repair ...
read up on the SRS light, it can be 'fixed' by unplugging the yellow cable under the seat ...but you have to be careful not to set the airbags off - hence the read up on ...
