Strange Noise

Hi,

Complete novice, first Landy!

Recently bought a 05 plate 90 TD5 Hardtop. First longish journey started making a high pitched squealing noise after about 15 miles which stopped after another 10 miles or so. Hard to tell where it's coming from, but sounds mechanical (poss something in need of lube). Next long journey, did exactly the same thing! Anybody have any ideas?

next to impossible to diagnose without any idea where the noise is coming from...

water pump?

Sounds more like it's coming from the rear of the vehicle. Initially I though it might be a wheel bearing, but in my experience that noise doesnt go away! Could be prop shaft or suspension?

bearing only scream until they seize

then they are quiet. as above tho = UJ's are easy to grease and to check.

I'm gonna be different and say crap between the brake disc and the dust guard. I get it worse with my TD5 than I've had with any of my previous landys.
