Yesterday I purchased a hawkeye scan tool which I think has narrowed the problem down
When I look at cam and Crank sensor under live data the crank shows OK when turning over but cam sensor shows lost so I can only assume it's a faulty cam sensor which was brand new
I'm under the impression after some research that the cam sensor detects where pot 1 is for firing order so if the ecu is not receiving the signal it won't fire properly is this correct

Thanks for all replies so far

Yes that's correct. The ECU can't initiate engine run until it sees the cam signal.

Got a bit further yesterday after a mind blowing time checking circuits and found there is no continuity from cam sensors signal wire to the ecm unit I can get the earth to ecm and positive to fuse bay
Studied the rave manual and that signal wire should go direct to the ecm
Don't know if it's wise to put a bypass wire on to try it ?
