Hi Guys

Sorry to bother you once again but my P38 is driving me mad.

Background:-

Bought a P38 earlier in the year with a blown engine, rebuilt the engine and all good, started and ran fine. Then had to do the final stage of the head bolts (after letting the car warm up) and 2 of the threads stripped in the block :(

Anyhow got a replacement engine out of a 525TDS, done the usual swappage stage, even swapped the diesel pump.

Now the problem I am getting is that the engine won't start, just cranks :( I don't have a glow plug light on the dash, but with a volt meter I am getting 12v on the glow plugs.

I have diesel in the clear pipe to the fuel pump, and I am getting diesel returned to the pump from the overflow pipes too.

When I crack each injector I get a dribble but not what I would have thought was enough diesel coming out :(

I'm now at the stage where I am running out of ideas.

To help me/you out I have summed up below what i have tried:-

Re-sync the Becm
Hardwiring in the glow plugs
Check voltage at glow plugs, glow plug relay etc all ok.
I have pushed the fuel pump button (inertia)
Cracked each injector, have fuel but not an awful lot

I do get the injector warning light come up on the dash and various relays and noises do occur whilst this is up and then they stop as the light goes out, I presume this is normal?

When the light does go out the glow plugs stop getting 12v, and the electric fuel pump stops.

Anyhow guys, I need help as I want to take the Range to Le-mans this year and that's just over a week away :(

Many Thanks in advance
Dan :(

Just checked the solenoid with a 12v feed and no difference, I can hear it click when the ignition initially is turned on, and then it clicks again when the ignition is off :)

in tank pump is good as I can see fuel going to the main diesel pump :)

How can you see fuel going to the pump? Is there air in the pipe and fuel flows along it can you see it that way? If so it needs bleeding. Open feed at pump until no more air, open injectors slightly, get someone to crank engine and nip up as fuel starts to flow without air. Engine my start as you do this, so beware.

I can see the odd bubble which heads towards the filter when the system has finished priming, will try bleeding tomorrow (need to charge battery :()

Cheers
Dan
