Please help me!

I have a series 3 lightweight (1979); after looking at a post here last month, i was informed a disco mk1 steering wheel would go straight on! It doesn't; does anyone have any reason why or any advice?

I would be eternally grateful

Never had one apart but I beleive there are 2 versions, and you are suffering from sods law.
