steering wheel switches....help

Hi Landy lovers.. did the old 'retro fit cruise control ' trick on me old disco 2 today..(steering wheel and dash switches).. works a treat.. while i had the air bag off i see the wires for the stereo switch as well ? what i need to know is can i fit the volume one in the same way i fitted the c/c will it work my radio as well.. or do i need some othe gizmo as well... many thanks stu..

I thought that all Disco 2's had steering wheel switches for their stereos. Obviously not.

It'll depend on what head unit is there, is it an original or aftermarket. If it's an aftermarket jobbie, odds are it won't work, but some can be made to. I don't think it's as straightforward as the cruise control.

I agree with Pedros, it depends on what is fitted, should you wish to change your head unit then Alpine is possibly one to go for as my switches were made to work the stereo. Apart from volume I can also select radio stations, change discs on the changer and change tracks. I think that there is a bit of wire (or two) that interfaces between the Land Rover switches and the stereo. I am sure that many of the better quality makes will do the same trick.
