Discovery 5 steering wheel controls

Can any advise me on this please. I have seen on You Tube someone changing both steering wheel switches for radio volume, cruise, heated seats etc from the push button units to the later soft touch fitted from 2018 on. Mine is a 2018 with the virtual dash but the earlier buttons. Can they be swopped for the newer ones?Has anyone done this? If so where did they get them. Not keen on the ones on e bay from China.

It depends.
If there's additional hardware required, then it'll need to be installed (if it's possible) and the system files would need updating to use the new hardware, which might not be possible.
It won't be plug n play, if that's what you're asking.
Vehicle manufacturers don't like aftermarket modifications, so generally develop hardware and software to prevent it.

It’s not an aftermarket mod though.
Its next model button change.

But also agree some electrickery brain changes maybe required.
