Just change my steering box on my 200tdi for a recon one mainly becuse it was leaking.

The recon box seems to have about an inch of play on the stering wheel, is this correct or should I be going back to the supplier about it?

Thanks

first up make sure it is the steering box get someone to wiggle the steering wheel while you look at the 'box input, then look at the drop arm and if its not moving and the input is there is too much play in the box! contact the supplier and get it replaced and inch is very close to failing an MOT on excess slop

if it is the box good luck sending it back! they are reputedly hard to work with almost on the same level as euro car parts! (another pedaller of whitebox crap that breaks before you can fit it)

i'm sure if you do a search on here this same thing came up about 2 years ago (if memory serves someone lost a load of money on that too)

an inch on steering wheel is not alot at box,box is probably no good but they should only have no free play when central ,the centre point is adjustable by shimming ,try yours

Just an update, looked further into it and found that the steering colum rubber was loose so replaced this and it seems to have sorted it out completely. Not easy to spot the fault by looking, but exentuated by the steering wheel.

Cheers
