Evening all,

have attempted to fit my steering guard tonight and cannot for the life of me get the bolt out that you attach the rear left hand (looking from front o landy) of the guard on to, its holding Part of the steering mecanisms to the rest of the landy,
does anyone know if its a bolt that just comes out or does it need to be unscrewed?
any advice for gettin it out?

Cheers

Dan

had to knock ours out wit a punch an a big hammer but it had snapped wilst undoing it so didnt matter for us but i know it was well and truly rusted in

Mine took a right good batterrin wiv a lump hammer to get it out. That fooked it of course, so I replaced it with a new one, which I plastered with copperslip when I put it in.

some are easy some arnt, should leave the nut on the end but crack it off a few threads before you hit it, you may just save the threads then, failing that a new bolt and nut is about 6 quid.
it doesnt screw out, it slides out.

60p for the bolt and 40p for the nut! cheaper for me to put em in the post to ya next time, pm m your address n i'll send some spares up 2 ya!

Are yer sure it's a proper high-tensile bolt?
It's part of yer steering set up, so it needs to be right.
Does it have 8.8 stamped on the bolt head?

Couldny get mine out, even with lots of ****ting with my 'persuader'.......took the steering damper off instead....no problem

On a simliar note, I fitted me sliders at the weekend and the Bulkhead bolts where an absolute arse, ended up watching my ratchet explode all over the drive, so I treated myself to a nice 24" Breaker bar, what a lovely thing it is made light work of the buggers, no more using a jack handle slid over me ratchet.......Treated meself to a halfrauds profeshneal socket and spanner set as well, £140 down to £99 aint Snap On I know, but it'll do me.....

i ended up grinding the front 2 off which were holding the recovery hooks on,
i managed to get the nut off the one holding the steering mount, and then put in my nice shiny new ones,
including VAT for all 4 bolts, washers and nuts £5.70
Got it from my local landy dealer place in hoddesdon, hertfordshire,
