Steering fluid

Look at the pipes visible though the driver's wheel arch. The pipes from the pump enter the rack right where LR didn't bother protecting them from road dirt/spray/salt, so they rust through and fail.
Mine flexy hose connection failed last year, requiring a replacement be fitted.
Here's a before and after.

The same happened to me about 2years after i had the car, lost power steering while i was out, luck has it i was only walking distance from an Halfords so got some fluid to top me up to get me the 3 miles home.

Failed at the joint going into the rack.

New parts and including a PAS pot has they have an in built filter which cannot be changed.

it was a nightmare to get the old joint off due to the bolts being a torx or allen key type which was also corroded
