Hit bit of trouble. Bought a new refurb steering box.
But it does not have a part cut out the shaft for the steering lock, on my old shaft it get wider and a groove is cut out... also it’s about a couple of cm shorter, so won’t fit the indicator cancel, spring, wheel nut etc. all on!!
I think it may be an earlier series box, which would be good as I could flog it to fund a new box for series 3 as it’s a good refurb ..,
Anyhow, also what are people’s opinions on britparts replacement worm and nut assembly ?
Thanks

The splined bit on the end has a groove in it to hold the steering wheel on with a bolt instead of a nut on the end on earlier steering shafts.
Also the splined end is a different diameter and later steering wheels won't fit on anyway.

Early 2a didn't have steering locks, and indicators were an optional extra, sounds like you have the box for one of those.

Never used the replacement worm and nut assembly, sorry.
