hi there im needing pointed in the right direction please. i have a j reg range rover and the steering box is throwing fluid out like mad, im looking for either to get it reconditioned or to get a reconditioned one. i tried a place called aztech engineering but there phone number is not recognised just my luck, so if any of you know a place for me to call to get this sorted then i would really appriciate this. thanks

scot.

sorry about that if the box i have needs to be be reconditioned then i would have to send it away but i i get a reconditioned one sent to me i will do the work myself hope this helps

rimmers?autopost..etc..all sell recon ones, they might need yours back or you get a surcharge..

dont change the seals on yours..wont work for more than a week.

changing seals works if shaft isnt piited and grooved thats what you do when you recondition them, seal saver sleeves work if shaft is poor

changing seals aint reconing them!if you pat 130 for someone to change seals then you been conned..full strip new bearings, new shaft if required, then what about setting up preload.etc..

so i disagree here..changing seals dont work..the shaft will be shot..its 23 yrs old..

autopost i have had dealings with..they sold me a duff steering box..HOWEVER paid for shipping back and replaced with lots of appoligies...

i didnt say just changing seals was a full recon,i fully aware of whats done as i have done them professionally ,and i doubt its original box ,and for £130 it wont get a new shaft

your spot on zen my mate said to me (the min i said im replacing the steering box but i might change the seals) dont replace the seals its a specialist job and it wont work, that why i said i would send it away to get reconned or just buy a reconned one, so thanks for the info reconned one it is and once again thanks zen

I had a leak from the input shaft on my 1988 RRC's steering box and fitted one of Aztec's replacement seals which re-engineers the seal to have o-rings running against a different part of the shaft from standard. Expensive but it worked a treat and was easy to fit.

No affiliation, just a happy customer.

now that is a good idea assuming rest of box is not worn.

ok guys need some help again, steering box all fitted and works a treat, now my problem os im left with 2 wires and for the life of me i cant see where they go and cant remember taking them of.

they are on the steering box side they com from a loom the some loom the air con red wires goto they are quit long and have a black sheath holding them together one is coloured white with a clear plastic spade connector and the other one is a white/green wire with same as the other spade connector. so if someone can check theres and let me know i would greatly appriciate it or if someone knows of hand where they go i would really appriciate that as well.

thank you scot
