Have got a fair bit done this weekend. Bump stop bracket replaced, outrigger and mount on and axle in place. Found another ****ing hole too.

What did you do squeeze some chicken sh1t on that patch. There is no strength there, a rookie job at best.

To be fair, that is a "repair" executed by the previous owners, I use the word "repair" in the loosest sense of the word ;)

When I grow up I wanna be an adult, not quite there yet but slowly slowly catchy monkey :D

Wasn't my patch but I'll wear the bib as long as I can call you daddy?

I think the patch is literally a patch aswell -there's a hole right next to it so I'm guessing it was just stuck over another hole! Beats the liquid metal that was on the outrigger though.

For the record though, I've welded bits up and been unhappy and chopped the whole section out to redo as I'm conscious of the repairs needing to be solid and not being too experienced.

Theory was right. The "patch" was over a crevice style hole. This hole didn't open up to be hole shaped, it crept up to the little hole I made with the wire wheel. The welding was interesting - chewing gum would've been more effective.

Getting the hang of welding upside down - short stick out is the key.
When I welded it up, the inside wall distorted  thin. It's all good though. I am going to flap wheel my inside angle down flush, chop out the thin side wall and weld in one of my bench made L plates. It will be like an overplate again but not over any rust

I went a little further up the chassis past the trailing arm brackets with the wire wheel and it's actually looking solid which is great to see for once. :)

I actually prefer the first models. I think they have the retro look like the 90s jap cars do. I think it's the grille and headlamps styling plus the decals. If I could make powerful and work id actually like to retrofit a pre grille. I'd also had my eye on some decals just not the full size ones. Has anyone done a retro fit?

I'm so close to being done chassis welding now. I have one section and a seam and then I'm there..... touch wood

June was my mot hope - it's my bday and I wanted it done for then as a milestone. I don't mind doing mech bits after that date but want an mot. I'd hazard it still needs a fair bit of cash injection. Depends what we reveal at the front end!!
