I would like some advice regarding buying some new black steel wolf style wheels for my 1998 Defender. Does anyone have any experience of steel wheels purchased from Challenger Steels I wonder? Are they generally ok and fit for purpose, or are there any similar alternatives I should be considering? These are the ones I am proposing to purchase:

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

ive had plenty of things off them before and all been very good.

i just ordered there "challenge" rims for mine

Op just out of curiosity which wheels do you have now? Why do you want to change, off roading?

I have the wolf style with BF Goodrich off-road tyres on one of my Landys, bought like that. I honestly I prefer the alloy ones and hope to swap them out, no intention to play in mud with mine.

I bought Modular ones from Paddocks. Within a short period ( two years or so) the paint has come away and they are beginning to rust up. I bought them as they were cheap. Next time round I will go for something a bit better quality.

Yep mine have failed around the same time, doesn't help I live near the sea. I may well go for alloys next time.

I live at the edge of the Massive central in France, we have a heavy winter with snow on the ground normally for a month or two. But even the spare which has hardly been on the road is rusting. I think I will stick to steel as I am planning to do another trip to Morocco and I often use it through the forest. I have seen some Alloy's get hairline cracks in the rims. I'm told you can beat steel rims out in an emergency if they get damaged.
