I was going to buy tires and spacers for my Disco on 16" original alloys. Compared prices and pros/cons, and it was (at least here in CR) cheaper to buy 5 off set steel 15" rims and tires than buying spacers and tires for 16".

If you buy steel rims, you could search 15"'s and it'll be cheaper each time you buy new tires for your vehicle. Also, consider what all said, you can fix a steel rim, if you brake an alloy you're dead.

Tyre prices over here can vary, at these sizes sometimes 16" can be cheaper...

+1 to that. I was in Belize for a long time . Always on steel.... You break an alloy in the arse hole of no where and its very easy to end up quite literaily.. dead.

Well Im in the who cares camp now. I live in england,I rtv once a month and do the odd play day. Alloys work fine for this use and if one ever fails I'll aways be able to get home. Abroad or on a camel trophie style trip then steel hands down, but in good old blighty it realy doesn't matter.

Fair play.... :)

So I think from this I'm pretty decided on steel... I quite like the modular wheels with a good -offset. However I don't want to go silly tire sizes... Paddocks and Island do them but 16 -7 and 16 - 8 seem to have +8 offsets.... bleugh :5bpuke:. Anyone know anywhere that sells 16 - 8 -35mm ish offset and has them in stock!!!.... Cheers...

Also before anyone says "have you looked" yes I have. 4x4 Tyres (who so far seem the only stockest) have none in stock, Brockwells wrong wheel, Paddocks no offset only in the 10", Island4x4 no, firstfour no, john craddock no, devon 4x4 no, oponeo no..... Can't check ebay on this computer but will have a look later.... :frusty: ....... mansfield no, mm4x4...... NO......... guess I'm just gona have to wait.......
