I have a 1993 2.5dti Discovery auto and when it's cold it's take's longer to start and tries to die for a few secs then slow power for abit and i hear like a belt sweak too but once been running for abit it starts fine,

it's has done over 200157 miles what could be the problem

Are you giving the glow plugs time to heat up? It might be a case of yer starter motor givin' up the ghost. Check all your filters first then make sure all your fuel pipes are tight and not letting any air in. Also check your glow plug timer relay and the glow plugs themselves.

mines a 300 but same principle, they tend to suck air around the fuel fiter bleed screw, the problem with mine was a tyred starter motor, i put a second hand one in and its usually instant now, might be worth checking the earth to the starter motor
